For much of my career, I lived and worked between the United States, Hong Kong, and mainland China—building digital products across technology, private banking, and travel. Those years taught me something unexpected.
People from different cultures don't simply travel differently. They notice different things.
When friends visited China, they rarely talked about how many landmarks they had seen. They remembered the historian who made the Forbidden City come alive. The family restaurant where every dish carried a story. The quiet tea house hidden behind an old courtyard. The conversations they never expected to have.
After returning home, I began rediscovering China through those same eyes. I searched for places with character rather than popularity. Hotels with a genuine sense of place. Remarkable local artisans. Extraordinary guides. Restaurants that locals quietly recommend. And stories that rarely appear in guidebooks.
Jade Meridian was born from that journey. Not to help travelers see more of China—but to help them understand it more deeply.
